A hybrid solar power plant combining photovoltaic generation with battery storage and either grid connection or a generator, so supply continues when generation is low without relying on one source alone.
Hybrid is the sensible configuration wherever the grid exists but is unreliable, which describes much of the market for solar in Africa, South Asia and parts of Latin America. Solar covers daytime load, the battery covers the evening peak, and the grid or a generator covers the remainder, with the controller deciding between them. These systems are used at locations where constant power is maintained through use with Grid (Electricity Connection). DC power generated by the solar panels is fed to the Inverter and AC power is obtained as output. During the daytime the solar modules generate solar electricity and keep feeding the Inverter. Grid-connected PV systems are designed to operate in parallel with and interconnected with the electric utility grid. The primary component in grid-connected PV systems is the inverter.
