Tea Bag Machine

A single chamber tea bag machine that packs several bags into one envelope rather than one, with the count set between three and five to the customer's requirement. Production runs at 110 ± 5 teabags per minute. Multi-bag envelopes serve a different market from single-serve wrapping. Hotel, catering and food service buyers want a sealed unit holding enough for a pot or a room set rather than individual sachets, and the envelope length is variable at 100 by 130 mm to accommodate the count chosen. The machine handles non-viscid granule materials across several industries, not tea alone. Control is by PLC with a touch screen display. Teabags measure 62.5 by 50 mm with a 210 ± 2 mm thread and a 6 by 24 mm tag, at a 6 cm³ dosage. It draws 10 kW total from a three phase 380V 50 Hz supply, weighs up to 4,250 kg, and carries short circuit, overload and creepage protection, a jog function and two emergency stops.

A high speed tea bag machine producing 105 ± 5 bags per minute, combining filling, heat sealing, threading, labelling and over-wrapping in one pass. Maximum dosage is 15 cm³ into a 65 by 62.5 mm bag, wrapped in an 82 by 75 mm envelope. The significant change in this model is that sealing pads replace the sealing rollers used in earlier generations. Rollers constrain which laminates will seal reliably; pads widen that range considerably, and the machine accordingly runs paper/PE, plastic/foil/PE and plastic/PE materials. For a producer that buys packaging locally in several markets, that flexibility decides whether one machine can serve them all. Pyramid bags are formed 50 to 80 mm long from food grade non-woven or nylon filter material, at a dosage of 5 to 40 cm³. Envelopes are made from plastic/PE or plastic/foil/PE laminates, sized 80 to 110 mm high by 85 to 125 mm wide, from material rolls of 160 to 220 mm. Packing material for the pyramid itself runs 120 to 180 mm wide. The machine draws 2 kW, needs air at 0.4 to 0.6 MPa consuming 200 litres per minute, and measures 1,960 by 1,110 by 2,390 mm.

It runs to a maximum of 110 bags per minute, filling a 62.5 by 50 mm bag into a 70 by 65 mm envelope. Cold sealing along the longitudinal direction is a different process from heat sealing the whole envelope, and it suits tea specifically: no heat reaches the leaf during wrapping, so none of the volatile aromatics that define a fresh tea are driven off at the packing stage. The machine fills to a set ration, heat-seals the tea bag itself, applies cotton thread and tags automatically, then cold-seals the envelope. Maximum dosage is 6 cm³, thread length 210 mm and tag size 28 by 24 mm. Total power is 1.25 kW, the machine weighs 565 kg and measures 1.7 by 0.9 by 2 metres.

Dosing accuracy is where this machine is judged, because the weight in a tea bag is small and a consistent one-gram dose is harder than it sounds with a light, bulky, variable material.
