Sowing Equipment covers machines that place seed in the ground at a controlled rate, depth and spacing: seed drills for grain and small seed, seed cum fertiliser drills, zero till and happy seeder types for residue conditions, and precision planters for row crops. Everything about a crop's yield potential is set at sowing, because seed placed too deep emerges late or not at all, and uneven spacing leaves plants competing with each other instead of filling the row.

Metering accuracy and depth control are therefore what the equipment is judged on, and they are a matter of the metering mechanism, press wheel arrangement and frame rigidity rather than of working width. Crop decides the machine type: a grain drill and a precision row planter are different tools and neither does the other's job well. Zero till versions matter where residue is retained and where fuel and time for cultivation are not available.

Sowing equipment is tendered in volume by agriculture ministries and departments, farm mechanisation and subsidy schemes, custom hiring centre programmes, seed corporations and certified seed producers, co-operatives and farmer producer organisations, agricultural universities, and conservation agriculture and mechanisation projects funded by development banks. We price against the specification as issued and include technical compliance tables, calibration data, origin and warranty declarations, priced spares lists and inspection arrangements.
