Industrial Electrification covers the electrical installation that an industrial site or plant runs on: incoming substations and transformers, main and sub distribution boards, motor control centres and starters, power factor correction, cable and busbar systems, earthing and lightning protection, and lighting and small power distribution.
Industrial electrification is designed from a load schedule rather than a floor plan, because the sum of connected loads, their diversity and their starting characteristics determine the incoming capacity, the fault level and the protection grading throughout the installation. Motor starting is the point most often underestimated, since a large motor started direct-on-line imposes a current and a voltage dip that the rest of the plant has to tolerate. Power factor correction is specified where the tariff penalises it, and the payback is usually short.
Industrial electrification is procured through tendering by industrial development corporations and public sector undertakings, state and municipal corporations, water and sewerage utilities, food and agro-processing corporations, port and airport authorities, railways, mining corporations, and industrial infrastructure projects financed by development banks. We bid against the written specification and attach single line diagrams, load and fault level calculations, equipment schedules, protection grading, make and origin declarations, test reports, warranty terms, installation, testing and commissioning scope and third-party inspection.
Send us your load schedule and site layout, and we will prepare the electrical design, equipment list and quotation.
