A combined mill compromises between stages that a line would set independently, so it produces more broken grain from the same paddy, and broken rice sells at a discount. Whether that matters depends on the market: where rice is sold loose and locally it often does not, and where it is graded and packed it certainly does. Being clear about that before purchase avoids disappointment afterwards.
