Cold Island Freezer covers island and chest freezers for frozen food display and bulk frozen storage: glass-lid and open-top island freezers for retail aisles, solid-lid chest freezers for storage, and combination units with basket and divider arrangements.

Island and chest formats hold considerably more product per unit of floor space and per unit of energy than upright cabinets, because cold air sinks and stays in an open-top well rather than falling out of a door every time it is opened. The trade is visibility and access: customers can see the top layer and have to dig for the rest, and stock rotation is harder. Glass lids recover the visibility at some energy cost, which is usually worth paying in a retail aisle.
