Utilities Equipment covers the services a processing plant runs on rather than the process machines themselves: water chillers and chilled water circuits, steam boilers and distribution, compressed air with drying and filtration, cooling towers, hot water sets, and effluent handling. Utilities are regularly under-specified because they are invisible in the product, and they are regularly the reason a correctly specified process line fails to reach its rated output.
Centralising a utility is usually cheaper and more controllable than fitting individual services to each machine, and it lets a plant use buffer capacity so the chiller or compressor is sized against average rather than peak demand. The figures that size them are the total load and the worst-case requirement of the most demanding process, which means utilities should be calculated after the process line is defined and before the building is finalised.
Utility equipment is a standard element of tendered plant packages and is also procured separately when a plant expands or when an energy efficiency programme funds an upgrade. Food corporations, dairy boards, water authorities, hospitals and institutions, industrial estates and projects backed by development bank and donor funding all tender it. Offers are built directly from the tender document and include load calculations, energy and water consumption figures, emissions and refrigerant declarations, origin and warranty terms, priced spares lists and inspection arrangements.
Send us your process cooling, steam and compressed air loads, and we will size the utilities and quote them.
