Army Tents covers treated canvas and synthetic field tentage for accommodation, command posts, stores, kitchens and medical use, with pole or frame structures designed for repeated erection and striking, and with liners, groundsheets and stove arrangements where required.
Field tentage is judged on erection time, resistance to wind, and how well it survives being struck wet and stored. Treated canvas breathes, which reduces internal condensation in a way coated synthetics do not, tolerates sun and heat over an extended deployment, and can be patched in the field rather than written off, at the cost of weight and the need to dry before storage. Ventilation arrangement matters as much as the fabric in hot climates.
Tentage is tendered in very large lots by defence ministries and procurement directorates, civil defence and disaster management authorities, police and paramilitary services, border agencies, health ministries for field medical facilities, and emergency preparedness and peacekeeping programmes financed by bilateral and international funds. Volume offers are prepared against the specification and carry fabric specifications and test reports where required, dimensional drawings, frame and pole specifications, packed weight and volume, make and origin declarations and pre-shipment inspection.
