Fire Alarm

Fire Alarm covers alarm systems and their components: control panels in conventional and addressable form, sounders, bells, voice evacuation units, beacons and strobes for noisy or hearing-impaired environments, manual call points, batteries and power supplies, and the interfaces to door release, lift control and building management systems.

In a conventional system the panel identifies the zone rather than the individual device, so someone has to walk the zone to find the detector in alarm. In a small building with a few zones that is no hardship and the saving is real; in a large or complex building it wastes critical minutes. Audibility is the other requirement that is routinely under-designed, since an alarm that cannot be heard over plant noise or through a closed door has not raised an alarm at all.

Alarm systems are tendered by public works departments, education and health ministries, municipal corporations and housing authorities, fire and emergency services, port and airport authorities, industrial estates, state corporations, hotels and institutions, and building safety projects backed by development bank and donor funding. We price against the specification as issued and include zone schedules, sound pressure calculations where required, panel and device compliance documentation, make and origin declarations, installation and commissioning scope, maintenance terms and inspection arrangements.
