Agro Rice Whitener

Agro Rice Whitener covers the polishing stage of rice milling, removing the bran layer from brown rice to produce white rice, by abrasive or friction action depending on the design. Degree of whitening is a market specification rather than a fixed setting: some markets want a high polish, others accept and prefer a lower one, and over-whitening removes nutrition along with bran while breaking more grain.

Breakage is the cost of whitening and the figure to manage. Grain arrives at the whitener having already been handled through hulling and separation, so it is at its most fragile, and pressure set for appearance alone will convert whole grain into brokens that sell at a discount. Running two whitening passes at lower pressure usually produces a better grade than one aggressive pass, which is why multi-stage whitening is specified in mills aiming at a graded product.
