Gas Insulated Sub Stations covers SF6 gas insulated switchgear and complete GIS substation packages across voltage levels: circuit breaker and busbar modules, disconnectors and earthing switches, instrument transformers, cable and transformer terminations, gas monitoring, and the local control and protection cubicles.
GIS is chosen when land area, environment or pollution make an air-insulated switchyard impractical. Because the live parts are enclosed in gas at pressure rather than separated by air, a GIS substation occupies a fraction of the footprint of an equivalent outdoor yard, which is why it is specified for urban sites, indoor installations, coastal and heavily polluted locations and places with extreme weather. The trade is higher capital cost and a requirement for trained maintenance and gas handling equipment, which belongs in the procurement plan rather than discovered later.
GIS is procured through formal tendering by electricity transmission and distribution utilities, grid corporations, energy ministries, state power corporations, metro and railway corporations, airport and port authorities, large industrial and mining operators, and urban transmission and substation projects financed by development banks and bilateral funds. We quote against the utility specification and provide guaranteed technical particulars, layout drawings, type and routine test reports, gas handling and monitoring requirements, make and origin declarations, warranty terms, erection and commissioning scope, spares lists and third-party inspection at works.
Send us your voltage level, single line diagram and site constraints, and we will prepare a compliant technical and commercial offer.
