Cold planing is how a road is resurfaced without raising its level, which matters wherever kerbs, drainage and building thresholds set the finished height. Drum width and milling depth are the specification: a small machine suits patching and utility trenches, while a full-lane machine is needed for highway resurfacing at any useful rate.
