A 3 tonne wheel loader is the smallest class that still does real production work. It suits yard loading, feeding small batching plants, agricultural and grain handling, and site work where a larger loader cannot turn or would damage the surface. Bucket capacity is the specification that decides everything else on a loader, and it follows from the material density rather than the machine size: a bucket sized for sand will be too heavy when filled with wet aggregate.
