At 12 tonnes the single drum roller becomes a general earthworks machine, working road subgrade, embankment layers and site platforms at production rate rather than in patches. Compaction is a function of drum weight, amplitude and the number of passes, and the machine has to be matched to the lift thickness specified in the works schedule rather than chosen by weight alone. Mechanical drive is specified where the fleet is owner-maintained. We build to the requirement given.
