Potato Peeler Machine
A potato peeler producing 100 kg per hour, running on a 220V supply with a 0.5 HP motor and consuming 0.37 kW/h. It stands 545 mm high, 340 mm wide and 430 mm deep, and weighs 40 kg. Peeling is done by an emery lining inside the drum rather than by blades, which is what keeps peel loss to a minimum: abrasive peeling removes the skin and little of the flesh beneath it, where a blade takes a fixed depth regardless. On a chip line that difference goes straight to yield, since every kilo lost at peeling is a kilo that never reaches the fryer. Water flows continuously through the drum during operation and carries the waste out through a drainage pipe, so the machine clears its own peel rather than needing to be stopped and emptied. Drum storage capacity is 6 to 8 kg of potatoes per charge. The machine is used in potato chip processing lines and as a standalone skin removal unit.
