Tea Bag Machine with Crimped Outer Bag
A tea bag machine that cold-seals the outer envelope along its length, giving the crimped edge the format is named for. It runs to a maximum of 110 bags per minute, filling a 62.5 by 50 mm bag into a 70 by 65 mm envelope. Cold sealing along the longitudinal direction is a different process from heat sealing the whole envelope, and it suits tea specifically: no heat reaches the leaf during wrapping, so none of the volatile aromatics that define a fresh tea are driven off at the packing stage. The machine fills to a set ration, heat-seals the tea bag itself, applies cotton thread and tags automatically, then cold-seals the envelope. Maximum dosage is 6 cm³, thread length 210 mm and tag size 28 by 24 mm. Total power is 1.25 kW, the machine weighs 565 kg and measures 1.7 by 0.9 by 2 metres.
